Jul. 3rd, 2014 02:24 amSo for those of you with an interest in Transformers, Jagex just announced that its Transformer's Universe game is going from a closed beta to open beta on July 4th at 12 pm British Standard Time which works out to 6 am Eastern and 3 am Pacific here in the United States. It's time to test their servers to see if they can handle the traffic and the mass creation of accounts!
So, basically, it is a MOBA-ish game which Jagex is labeling as a MOTA. You get to play as either Autobot or Decepticon, and I think you make that decision upon account creation. The game arranges team deathmatches with from what I have seen four players to a side, but I might be wrong. Other game modes might be added in the future but probably just the standard real time shooter game modes. Each player selects three (I think) bots to use in the fight, but can only use one at a time and can only swap them out when one becomes disabled in battle. The bots seem to fall into three classes so far: tanks (not actual tanks, just heavy slower vehicles/bots which can take and give lots of damage), rangers (faster and lighter vehicles/bots), and support. And yes, you can drive around in vehicle mode, and even use some weapons, but most of the fighting is done in bot mode.
As for customization, you have a choice of skins for the bot/vehicle and the weapon/equipment/shields loadout can be varied for each bot in your squad.
It's potentially a timesuck but if it interests you, I am not even going to take advantage of the refer a friend offer because I am too lazy to start playing another game so don't bother bugging me about it :P. Anyhow, gameplay
